Battery recycling returns July 16
The Golden Age Foundation (GAF) will hold a battery recycling service on Tuesday, July 16, in the Clubhouse 2 parking lot from 10 a.m.-noon. GRF IDs are required.
The GAF will accept alkaline, carbon zinc, nickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal-hydride (NiMH), lithium ion (Li-Ion), lithium metal, silver oxide, button cell batteries and all other dry cell batteries. Basically, this includes all household batteries, cell phone and laptop batteries, and small, button-type batteries.
Residents are asked to place each lithium battery in a separate baggie as part of the recycle requirements. No commercial batteries will be accepted.
The GAF requests that residents put all hearing aid batteries in a separate bag. This service is only for residents’ personal household batteries; no business batteries.
It is important to recycle batteries instead of throwing them in the dumpster to keep waste fees low and keep the planet clean.
