The Democratic Club will be meet on Wednesday, June 26, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 1:30 p.m. Themeetingwillfeaturean in-person presentation on endof- life issues by Steph Campbell and Susan Johnston. Both of these women are activists with Compassion & Choices, the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofi t organization working to improve care, expand options, and empower everyone to chart their end-of-life journey.
Emphasis will be on California’s End of Life Option Act, which went into effect on June 9, 2016, and was updated in 2022. California is one of 10 states— plus Washington, D.C.—that have authorized medical aid in dying.
Copies of the Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLIST) will be available at the meeting. POLIST is a medical order form that helps give people with serious illness more control over their care during a medical emergency.
People can arrive as early as 12:45 p.m. to socialize before the meeting. Coffee, water and individually wrapped snacks will be available. People can also join this meeting on Zoom. Email lwsbdemocraticclub@gmail.com
