Pastor Chuck Franco will resume Assembly of God’s current series on “The Beatitudes” with a message titled “Why Be Merciful?” from Matthew 5:7.

Cultural norms swing between “one only gets what one deserves” and “one is a victim of one’s circumstances.” But Jesus sets a different standard. When one claims to be guided by God’s law, there is an expectation to show mercy. Mercy involves exercising understanding, compassion, tenderness, forgiveness and kindness, even in the worst of circumstances.

What does God really expect of the humans He created? Should all offenses be ignored and forgiven unconditionally? Biblical perspective will provide answers to these difficult concepts this coming Sunday, June 23.

The Wednesday morning class is studying “Hebrews,” a video series by Derwin Gray. The book of Hebrews was written to people who were surrounded by rampant sin, a society in chaos, and beginning to doubt Jesus was who He said he was. The third session is titled “Approach the Throne.”

Leisure World Assembly of God meets Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. The Hymn Sing takes place on the fourth Sunday evening of the month at 6 in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby.
