First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together.

Pastor’s Message

Jacob had worked for his father-in-law, Laban, for 20 years. Through God’s providence, Jacob became prosperous in his flocks, which upset Laban. In Genesis 31:5 Jacob tells his wives, “I see your father’s attitude is not friendly toward me as formerly, but the God of my father has been with me. Your father has cheated me and changed my wages 10 times; however, God did not allow him to hurt me.”

In verse 12, Jacob has a dream where an angel of God says, “I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you. Now arise, leave this land and return to the land of your birth.”

Jacob and his wives, Leah and Rachel, gathered up their belongings and departed. Rachel, unbeknownst to Jacob, stole household idols that were her father’s. This will result in a showdown and further deceit when Laban pursues Jacob and overtakes him.

Weekend Services

Sunday services, held from 9:30-10:45 a.m., are traditional with hymnal music led by Janet Ray and Sherry Parmenter at the piano. This week, Al and Sherry Parmenter will bring the special music.

Saturday services includes contemporary worship songs led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment from 9:30-10:45 a.m.

Midweek Studies

Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Whitlatch leads the Tuesday Bible study from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Thursday morning Bible study from 10:30-11:30. Humes also leads the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
