LW Pool Club

The LW Pool Club held its annual Pool-a-thon Tournament on May 25. Twelve of the best players competed in an eight-round tournament playing four different pool games against eight opponents. The games started with eight ball, then nine ball, straight pool to 20 balls, and ended with a race to five playing one pocket with a nine ball rack.

After three rounds, Linda Patton, Steve Edrich and Dave Silva were unbeaten. In round four, Patton lost her one pocket game and in round six Edrich lost his first game in nine ball.

In the seventh round, Patton led Silva 19-15 in straight pool, needing only one ball for the win, but Silva ran the last five balls to remain undefeated. In the final round, Silva won game eight in one pocket. Edrich finished in second place, and John Burns took third place by beating Patton in a playoff game of eight ball.

Playing different games against strong competition helps to improve pool skills as the club looks forward to hosting Laguna Woods here on June 29.
