Tournament Poker Club tournament is on Nov. 18

The Tournament Poker Club’s Casino Tournament will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. Early registration is a must since seating is limited. People can register any Saturday morning on regular tournament days.

Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in should make plans to play at the next Saturday tournament on Nov. 18. Regular tournaments are on the first three Saturdays of every month in the lobby of Clubhouse 6. Registration begins at 10 a.m., along with treats and coffee. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

The club welcomed back its members for the first tournament of the month on Nov. 4. As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Shelly Yu, first; Joyce Smith, second; Guta Basner, third; Tom Pappas, fourth; Nancy Floyd, fifth. At the final table, play continued until Smith and Yu were head’s up. Holding a pair of K’s, Smith went all in before the flop and was called by Yu holding pocket sevens. The flop was A-3-5 leaving Smith still in the lead, and Yu hoping for another seven. The turn was a three, but the river card was a seven; and Yu’s triple sevens won the hand.

Yu has lived in Leisure World and been a member of the poker club for two years. This was her first final table win at a regular tournament. In addition to tournament poker, Yu enjoys poker and pickleball here in Leisure World, and also likes painting and traveling.
