Shuffleboard Club flexibility pays off in no forfeits
When the Shuffleboard Club started its fall season in mid-September, it created teams of only six or seven players rather than the historical line-up of seven or eight players. By doing so, the two leagues had five teams competing in both leagues. In shuffleboard circles, a minimum of six players are required for each competition.
As the season progressed, many players have agreed to substitute for a team that might be short a player to avoid a forfeit. On Nov. 3, the morning league realized it would be short eight players. Eight league players stepped up, gave up a free morning, and the club’s record for the season of no forfeits still holds.
For many of the LW Shuffleboard Club members, having fun, making friends, and supporting the centuries old game of shuffleboard are the major reasons for learning to play and compete.
