The Leisure World Library and Friends of the LW Library will close for a much-needed refurbishment. The last day to visit the main library building and the Friends of Library will be Saturday, Dec. 23. The closure is expected to last through all of January.

On Thursday, Dec. 28, the library will reopen in a temporary location to continue serving residents. This temporary location will be Clubhouse 3, Room 8. A selection of new and popular books, audio, and visual materials will be available for checkout at this location. Many magazines and all of the library’s newspapers will be available for reading on site at the temporary location.

Library materials checked out prior to the closure of the main library will continue to be due at their regular due dates. Residents can either return the items in the same book drops they have always used or visit the temporary location in Clubhouse 3.

After the renovations, the library's interior will be arranged just as it was before. This temporary library location will operate Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Some of the library’s regular services, such as faxing, copying and patron computers, will be unavailable in the temporary location. These services will resume when staff members return to the main library building.

The Friends of the Library will remain fully closed during the duration of the refurbishment. People should hold all their donations until the reopening.

Beyond the painting and carpeting, some exciting changes are coming to the library. Watch the LW Weekly for more information as the LW Library gets close to reopening, which is expected to happen in early February.
