Community Church
This Sunday, Nov. 19, is the second week of extended advent at Community Church. The message is titled “Hope is in Our Hands.”
The season of Advent has long been celebrated in the Christian church as a time of waiting for the second coming of Jesus in the “end times.” That waiting has now gone on for almost 2,000 years, leaving some to wonder if the point has been missed. This Sunday, Community Church will look at 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 and Matthew 25:14-30 and learn what it means for hope to be “in our hands.”
Pastor Johan Dodge is leading a weekly Advent study, titled “Advent is for Action,” on Thursday mornings at 11 in the Fellowship Hall through Dec. 21. The group will not meet next week on Thanksgiving, Nov. 23. Everyone is welcome to join the group any week.
Those who are looking to belong to something that is lifegiving, creative and empowering are invited to join Community Church on Sundays. All are welcome at Community Church. Worship begins at 9:50 a.m., followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshments. Come early for a cup of coffee in the narthex. Community Church is located inside Leisure World at 14000 Church Place.
People can also watch the service live on Facebook, @CommunityChurchLeisureWorld, and on Zoom. People can contact the church office to receive the Zoom link.
Those who are in need without another way to address it may call the church office to leave a message at 562-431-2503.
