American Legion led a fl ag ceremony at elementary school

The American Legion Post and Auxiliary were invited by the principal of Furgeson Elementary School in Hawaiian Gardens to participate in a flag ceremony as part of its annual Veterans Day program.

Lee and Sandy Esslinger and Carolyn van Aalst were honored to attend, fold the flag and explain all of the 13 folds to the students and faculty at the outdoor event which was also attended by school board and city council members.

Students and their veteran family members were acknowledged and saluted as the flag was presented to the principal. Light refreshments (really a full breakfast) was served after the program to the guests.
