Pool League
On April 17, In the Money was the big winner of the Monday Pool League by beating PJJ's 9-4; they won five of the six singles matches and Ken Harpham scored five points.
The other two matches were very close. The Cue Crew edged the Rail Runners 7-6, by winning the final eight ball games, where all three players on each team alternate shots. Gary Monahan won five for the Cue Crew and won both of his singles games.
The Renegades beat Right on Cue 7-6. The match once again was tied six games a piece and was decided by the final eight ball game. Steve Mitchell of the Renegades scored five points. To show how competitive the night was no player scored more than five out of seven points.
On April 19, at the Wednesday pool league, the Ruffians edged Milly's Boys 7-6. The difference was the last eight ball game the Ruffians won to break a 6-6 tie. All the players split their singles matches, while the Ruffians won all three eight doubles games and Milly’s Boys won all three nine ball doubles matches.
U3 had the big win of the night beating Triple Threat 9-4. Sal LaScala scored six points for U3 and teammates Gary Snow and Denise Scott won five.
The Favorites beat Bank It 8-5 and moved to within three points of league leading Ruffians. Dave Silva won six games for the Favorites and Connie Adkins won five, including both her singles matches. Dave Mackinder made the shot of the night to win the last eight ball game for the Favorites. The eighth ball was hanging in the corner pocket, and blocked by an opponent’s ball. Mackinder blanked the cue ball across the table and kicked in the eight without scratching or hitting the other ball. If he had not hit the eight ball his team could have lost because of three consecutive scratches. A loss due to three consecutive scratches is rare but it happens.
