Seal Beach Pier Emergency Repair Construction

CONSTRUCTION

Since late 2022 into early 2023, Seal Beach has experienced atmospheric rivers resulting in heavy rainstorms and high surfs that impacted the coastline, which included damage to the Seal Beach Pier.

On Jan. 4 and Jan. 16, Gov. Gavin Newsom proclaimed states of emergency throughout the State of California to support ongoing response to winter storms.

On Jan. 17, the Seal Beach city manager proclaimed a local emergency. The Seal Beach City Council subsequently ratified the Local Emergency Proclamation on Jan. 23.

Jilk Heavy Construction, Inc. was retained to repair the Seal Beach Pier as a result of the winter storms. The contractors mobilized on April 10. It is estimated that the work will be completed by Memorial Day weekend.

The latter half of the pier will be closed during this period to facilitate the repair process and, more importantly, ensure public safety.

There will be intermittent construction staging at the 8th Street beach parking lot. Drivers should be aware of any posted parking restrictions, and exercise caution around any construction activities.
