RSVP for March 17 meeting
SUNSHINE CLUB
Bill Cruikshank, executive director of Meals On Wheels Long Beach, will speak at the Sunshine Club meeting on Friday, March 10, at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2.
Founded in 1971, Meals on Wheels of Long Beach (MOWLB) is celebrating 53 years of service to local communities. The organization provides service not just to the residents of Long Beach but also to the residents of Signal Hill, Leisure World Seal Beach and Lakewood.
All of the staff and volunteers at MOWLB are thrilled to be entering its 10th year of service to the wonderful residents of Leisure World.
MOWLB is grateful to the Golden Age Foundation (GAF) for its continuing support of MOWLB’s meal program to low-income residents in Leisure World.
MOWLB provides home-delivered, nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared meals for homebound Leisure World residents who are unable to shop and cook for themselves.
Over the past 10 years this service has steadily grown in Leisure World. Two freshly prepared meals, a hot dinner, complete lunch, dessert and a beverage are delivered every weekday with a friendly visit and wellness check to over 100 LWSB residents. Deliveries are made by caring and trained community volunteers. Volunteers provide a valuable social connection for those residents who are isolated and alone. The goal for MOWLB is to help all their clients remain safe, socially connected, and nourished at home for as long as possible. The program is always looking for new volunteers to help deliver to LWSB residents. It’s a great way to get to know your neighbors and be of service.
