Sign-ups for Shuffleboard Club spring league begin Feb. 10
Both morning and evening winter leagues approach the half-way mark for the winter season. Even though the winter league is the second season of the club year, the club continues to add new members, including four in the last 30 days: Bob Robarge of Mutual 15, Norb Walsh of Mutual 1, Steve Edrich of Mutual 6 and Fred Carpenter of Mtuual 14. Sign-up sheets for spring league will be available in the Courts Building beginning Feb. 10 when the club will celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Regularly scheduled openplay/ pick-up games in the beautiful indoor courts take place Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9-11 a.m., free for all club members and any interested LW residents. Most days, there are eight to 12 players participating. For those wanting to practice in the evenings, the courts are open Tuesday evenings from 6-8. All equipment is provided; closedtoe shoes are required.
The Tuesday evening league played Jan. 24, pairing the Night Sliders—captained by Sally Fowler—and the Night Shufflers—captained by Karen Mendon. The Night Sliders won eight of 12 games. The Night Sliders win was driven with three all-game winners: Sally Fowler, Red Ryals and Patty Peterson. Harshad Patel led the Night Shufflers as an all-game winner for the second week in a row.
The Tuesday league played their third game on Jan. 31, and their results will be included in next week’s article.
The Friday morning league played on Jan. 27, with the Flying Discs sailing past the Hot Rods 10 games to two. The all-game winners for the Flying Discs included Chandra Patel, Donna Gorman, Fred Carpenter and Steve Edrich.
In the second contest, the Smashers outdistanced the Bumpers 11 games out of 12. The all-game winners for the Smashers were Milly Larsen, Sal LaScala, Shel Magnuson, Red Ryals and Ellie West.

Shuffleboard Club members enjoy new members becoming friends, added publicity, and the thrill of playing pick-up games on the indoor courts Monday and Wednesday mornings, plus friendly competitive league games on Tuesday nights and Friday mornings.
