Service/Gathering Times:
Sunday morning at 10:30 in Clubhouse 3, Room 2; Wednesday morning Bible study is currently on break. The Hymn Sing is held on the fourth Sunday of the month, at 6 p.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby.
Sermon for this week: The opening to a popular ‘60s TV series showed sparks quickly sizzling their way through a fuse, backed by a now iconic, brand identifying song. The lead-in scene just prior to the opening was always the same premise. The main character received a tape-recorded message, which always challenged him with these words: “Your mission, should you choose to accept it,” and then described what the “impossible” assignment was. Pastor Chuck Franco will present “The Mission of the Church,” from Matthew 28:19-20, as the next installment in the “What is Truth” series. What is that mission, and does the church—the believers who identify themselves as followers of Christ — have the option to accept or reject it? Find out this coming Sunday.
Bible Study: An important point from last week’s study was “Don’t invite fear in.” Many people don’t realize they have a choice in being fearful. “Fearless,” by Max Lucado, invites students to examine the role fear has in their lives. Is fear a sin? Are there good fears? This study includes a short video lesson and moderated discussion, incorporating student comments, stories and questions. Can 2023 be the year fear no longer has a stranglehold on people’s lives? The beginning of January is a great time to find out.
