At the Sept. 8 Photo Arts Club meeting, Ben Benjamins presented a powerpoint program regarding the order of importance of the key elements of photography. Multiple photos that had been sent to Benjamins by members were shown on the screen and discussed. Thereafter, Benjamins demonstrated some of the features of the iPhone. He also announced the he had created a Facebook page called “Photographic Arts Club of Leisure World” and encouraged members to post photos on the Facebook page.

The next meeting of the Photo Arts Club will be on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. People should bring their iPhone/Android and/or camera.

The assignment is to make photos of a person, close-up, head and shoulders, or full length. It is not necessary to see a face, but focus on the light on the subject that separates the person from the background. It could be a thin line, half light, or backlight. Any “clutter” in the photo should support the subject. Extraneous “junk” in the photo should be avoided. Multiple photos by the same artist are encouraged. Email them to Ben Benjamins at benbenjamins@hotmail.com.

The photos will be shown and discussed at the meeting.

Bring photos of your choice to be displayed and commented on at the meeting. Individuals with technical or other questions will be paired with someone who can help them for individual discussion after the meeting.

For information about the club, call Regine Schumacher at (562) 430-7978. Everyone is welcome.
