Hui O Hula members beat the heat with festive pool party

After working hard at performances during the summer, Hui O Hula, the LW Hawaiian dance club, decided to celebrate the season with a poolside party on Sept. 9.

Food and beverages galore were brought and made by the newcomers, including ribs and chicken by grill master Susie Saraf, exotic side dishes such as rice and curries, various homemade salads, exotic sweets and pastries, pineapple chucks infused with vodka and chocolate cake to celebrate Mel Blake’s belated August birthday.

Appreciation shown by the hula newbies was overwhelming— the old-timers/veteran dancers really felt the aloha.

Hui O Hula dancers (about 25) came to the party.

Everyone either swam or soaked in the pool and jacuzzi most of the time due to the record-breaking heat.
