Hui O Hula visit Fountain Valley
Hui O Hula dancers and band were delighted to be invited back to entertain at Carmel Village retirement community in Fountain Valley last weekend. The residents there are always cheerful and welcoming. A few dancers, at a resident’s daughter’s request, serenaded her bedridden mother with “Hawaiian Wedding Song” and “Tiny Bubbles” in a private room. The music and dance brought tears and happy memories for her mother who was married in Hawaii.
It is a treat to have live music at any hula performances, therefore big kudos to Larry Yamashiro and his band members for taking the time. Mahalo/thanks also to popular Hawaiian musicians Geri Kuhia and Carole White for their invitation to perform at Huntington Beach’s Merrill Gardens memory care unit last week. Here in LW, hula lessons are offered twice weekly to all. Call (562) 431-2242 or email jojo@huiohula.com for class information.
LW residents dance to "golden moon and silvery sea" in "Tiny Bubbles," a popular island song about celebrating long-lasting love.
