Neighbors helping neighbors

What makes Leisure World great? Good neighbors do.

Midge Bash of Mutual 14noticed a man bending down to pick up trash while she was taking a different route home. He was diligent and did not miss a piece of paper, bottle or other junk that people had dropped on the ground. He scanned the area for any waste as he walked, and had large bag into which he put the litter.

He explained that every morning for a half-hour to 45 minutes, he tries to make things better.

Originally from Iowa, Ken Goettsch of Mutual 4 was a farmer who raised corn, beans and oats before he moved to Leisure World. Now, his son carries on raising cattle on his old homestead. He served four years in the Air Force. His hobbies are many, but wood creations are his specialty. If you see Ken doing his tidy task, just say thank you and maybe even join him.
