Fight the flu with free flu shots
While the country has been focused on preventative measures to avoid COVID-19, influenza has begun creeping back into our collective consciousness as the weather cools. And since the more prevalent strains change from year to year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone 6 months and older be vaccinated annually.
Most people who contract the flu recover in anywhere from a few days to less than two weeks, but some will develop complications, including pneumonia, respiratory failure and cardiac injury (e.g., heart attack or stroke), as well as the worsening of pre-existing chronic conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease).
The Orange County Health Care Agency (HCA) offers Free Flu Shot Events throughout the county. Upcoming events include: Mile Square Park: Walk-up only. Saturday, Oct. 17, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Registration opened Oct. 12.
OC Fair and Event Center:
Drive-thru only. Friday, Oct. 30, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Registration opens Oct. 25.
Anaheim Convention Center: Drive-thru only. Saturdays, Oct. 24 and Nov. 7, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Registration opens for Oct. 24 on Oct. 19 and for Nov. 7 on Nov. 2.
