Assembly of God

The book of Hebrews is filled with great history and hope! The first few verses of chapter 12 are often used to help us “stay the course,” with the goal of staying on track and running the race with endurance. The lives of Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and many others show us that they lived by faith in regards to their future and were looking forward to the city with foundations whose architect and builder is God. In Hebrews 11:40, the writer states that God has planned something better for us. For us to fix our eyes on Jesus, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorned its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God, we need to be aware of the obstacles that keep us from moving forward/running the race. Some of these obstacles are temptations that lure us into greener pastures, busyness that leads us down a rabbit trail that ends in exhaustion and worry and fear that grab hold of our minds. Anything that takes precedence over our relationship with God sends us down the wrong path. The goal of believers is not to focus on the path or try to find their own way; they are to fix their eyes on Jesus as he is the guide and destination. He will welcome us home when we cross the finish line.

Pastor Sam Pawlak will be live on Facebook this Sunday at 10 a.m. to deliver a brief devotion and a recorded service. DVD’s are then duplicated by Richard Ryals and distributed to members by Pastor Sam early each week. This method is a blessing to all during this pandemic.
